Jantzen Swimwear

Jantzen swimwear was founded by three men in 1910 in Portland, Oregon. The company was called the Portland Knitting Company and it specialized in producing sweaters, woolen hosiery and other knitted apparel. Two of the original founding members of the Portland Knitting Company, John Zehntbauer and Carl Jantzen, were avid outdoor sportsmen and by a chance meeting in 1913, were asked by a member of the local rowing club if they could produce clothing that was specifically intended to be used for rowing in rainy weather. The two men took their friend up on the offer and it proved to be a turning point in the young history of the company, and obviously it came to be the predecessor of the eventual Jantzen swimwear line that we see today.

The company saw swimwear sales increase markedly after the end of World War I and in 1918 it was renamed to Jantzen Knitting Mills. Jantzen swimwear for women was advertised and displayed in high traffic areas in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. The company gained further popularity when the cover of a 1920 catalog featured a woman clad in red Jantzen swimwear with a red cap on her head. It was such a hit with the men of the time that it was commonly cut out and stuck to the windshields of cars. They were also posted on trains which were heading for the east coast of America, further increasing popularity and sales.

Thanks to this quirk of advertising, the image was actually adopted as the logo of the company and in 1932, was recognized as the seventh most known trademark in the world. In these modern times, Jantzen swimwear is still based on traditional styling, particularly from the 1950s where one piece swimsuits dominated the beach scene. The good news is that you certainly don’t have to be restricted to one piece styles; there are plenty of two piece outfits and cute swimsuits available too.

The styles are very reminiscent of the fifties too, with bright, colorful floral prints dominating the choices. You can also purchase the same style as was worn in the fifties, with high wasted bikini bottoms and rather large bikini tops which cover most of your chest. You can find Jantzen swimwear online for very competitive prices. You only have to be sure of what size you are before ordering to make sure you get the correct one since you don’t have the chance to test and examine the product physically.

However, it is not the least expensive swimwear going around. A typical one piece swimsuit on a swimwear boutique might cost you around $50 or perhaps as high as $70 depending on where you shop, so look out for a Jantzen swimwear sale in order to get the best prices. Jantzen swimwear is also available for young girls although the prices don’t tend to get much cheaper than the adult versions. With Jantzens 100-year experience, you can be sure to get quality and performance from this swimwear without that fear of malfunctioning while in use. So flaunt that body with confidence, go with Jantzen swimwear today!
